Well it has been a while. Let’s just say 2020, was a tough one for this baseball blogger. No reason to cover old territory here but now, we are looking forward to season 2021. There is a LOT happening behind the scenes down at the Ranch and now is a good time to let you know what is in the pipeline for season 2021.
Baseball is back After a false start this week, baseball training returns to Targoora park This Wednesday from 5pm for juniors and 6pm for seniors. As you are all aware, make sure you adhere to COVID protocls which will be on display as per Baseball Victoria and state guidelines. One wonders how many of the veterans arms will feel after an enforced 12 month layoff? Maybe take it easy the first night and slowly buildup that arm strength again over time. If it feels great the first night don’t over do it, because we know what happens next don’t we? I wonder how many have booked chiropractor and physio appointments for the following week?It will be great to see new players, returning players young and old on Wednesday night.
Country cup just around the corner This year on Saturday March 6th sees the inaugural country cup between the Bendigo baseball associations Strathfieldsaye Dodgers and the Wangaratta Rangers. This year the boys will travel over to Bendigo to play a 9 inning game, beginning at 1:30pm. In conjunction with the game, an online auction will be taking place with all proceeds going to Beyond Blue. A link below to the auction is available. Get around and support a great cause.
Cods are back After an enforced 12 month lay-off, masters baseball makes a triumphant return in April 2021. The Cods are off to Geelong this time around for something different. But don’t you worry, many of the illustrious names of the Cods will be making an appearance. Names like Jason “Sunscreen” Jonker, and Ash “Headphones” Meyers, will be suiting up once again. Amazingly enough good friend of Line Drive, Cam “The Soak” Scott is available as his social life has not got in the way this year. Should be another weekend of fun remembering how good we once were!
